Mercer Pastor Charged For Sexually Assaulting 16-year-old: Prosecutor

The teen contacted Trenton Police in 2024 to report the assaults. Charles B. Brinson was charged following an investigation.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A pastor from Trenton has been charged for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey said Thursday.

Charles B. Brinson, 64, of Trenton was taken into custody on Feb. 19, following a joint investigation between the Special Victims Units of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and the Trenton Police Department.

Brinson is a well-known figure in Trenton and is the Bishop of the Brinson Memorial Church, Inc., on Brinton Avenue in Trenton.

In February of 2024, the teen contacted Trenton Police to report that they were sexually assaulted by Brinson on separate occasions in January and February of that year at Brinson’s home, after he administered an unknown substance that caused them to lose consciousness.

Brinson has been charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault of an incapacitated victim, and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Brinson pending trial.
