'My County' Poster Contest Announced for Fourth-Graders

Mercer County’s Constitutional Officers, County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello, Surrogate Diane Gerofsky, and Sheriff Jack Kemler, are encouraging fourth-graders to participate in their sixth-annual school poster contest to recognize Mercer County government. 

The “My County” poster contest, sanctioned by the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey (COANJ) promotes county awareness and is open to all local fourth graders. Students are encouraged to create a poster that depicts all that is special and unique to Mercer County including landmarks, attractions, and area history.

First, second and third place winners will be selected during the month of May, which commemorates County Government Month. Winners will be invited to a County location for a photo session with the County Clerk, Surrogate and Sheriff. Winning posters will be displayed in a public place such as the .

All posters become the property of the Constitutional Officers Association and the County of Mercer, and if budgets permit, may be used for a future calendar.

All posters must be submitted on a standard 22-inch by 28-inch poster board. The name “Mercer County” must be in 4-inch letters formed in black marker at the top of the poster. The student’s name, teacher’s name and name of their elementary school must be printed neatly on the back lower right corner of the poster. Posters must be delivered to the Mercer County Clerk’s Office located in Room 100, at 209 S. Broad St. in Trenton, no later than April 27, 2012.

The Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey was organized in 1920 to establish a cooperative effort among County Clerks, Sheriffs, and Surrogates to improve services rendered to their respective counties.
