NY Man Charged In Shooting Death Of Mercer Resident: Prosecutor

32-year-old Shakeem Lemach Davis was shot inside E&J Deli Grocery on Dec. 22, authorities said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A New York resident has been charged in the shooting death of Trenton resident Shakeem Lemach Davis which took place in December, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey said.

Sean Wilkerson, 33, of Brooklyn, NY, is charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree felony murder, one count of second-degree attempted kidnapping, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

He was arrested on Jan. 7 in New York by members of the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, Marbrey said. The prosecutor’s office will file a motion to detain him pending trial.

Around 5:51 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, Trenton police were dispatched to the 100 block of South Cook Avenue on multiple reports that someone had been shot.

Officers found 32-year-old Davis inside E&J Deli Grocery suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Davis was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where died a short time later, Marbrey said.
