Photo Gallery: Car Engulfed in Flames Near Route 1

Lawrence Township firefighters this afternoon (Wednesday, March 7) extinguished a blaze that engulfed a car and sent up a column of black smoke that was visible for several miles.

The fire on Renaissance Boulevard, located off Brunswick Pike (Route 1) between Quaker Bridge Mall and the state motor vehicles inspection facility, was reported shortly before 2:10 p.m.

The township’s daytime duty crew of career firefighters and volunteer firefighters from Lawrenceville and Slackwood fire companies fought the fire.

The township fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
