Pennington, NJ January 26, 2025
Love, warmth, and connection filled the halls of Brandywine Pennington by Monarch this past week as residents embraced National Hugging Day with open arms. Through a series of meaningful discussions and activities, they reflected on what a hug means to them. One resident shared that a hug feels like a warm blanket. Another described it as comforting. Others expressed that a hug makes them feel loved and secure.
The week-long celebration culminated on Sunday, January 26, with The Forever Hug, a deeply personal art project that brought residents and their families together to create lasting mementos of their affection. Family members arrived with t-shirts in hand, ready to take part in the unique experience. Residents had paint applied to their lower arms, and as they embraced their loved ones, the imprint of their hug transferred onto the fabric, capturing the warmth of the moment in a tangible way.
The Forever Hug was a beautiful and emotional experience, said Lauren Strano , Life Enrichment Director. Seeing residents and their families come together in such a meaningful way was a true testament to the power of love and connection.
