Monday

Movie Matinee: Dead Poets Society, Lawrence Library, 2751 Route 1, Lawrence Township, 10 a.m.

Fall 1959: Another year begins at Welton Academy, a secluded Vermont prep school. This year, seven students will encounter a teacher, played by Robin Williams, whose ideas about learning inspire them to pursue their individual passions, explore new horizons of self-expression, and discover the excitement of a world outside Welton’s strict curriculum in this outstanding drama of inspiration and commitment. Rated PG-13. 128 minutes. Refreshments will be served. 

Tuesday

LNC Summer Family Night, Lawrence Nature Center, 481 Drexel Ave., Lawrence Township, 7 p.m.

Search for insects in the meadow and on nature center grounds with Science Educator Sue Herrmann. Inside we'll use magnifying lenses and field guides to identify and classify our insects. Describe and draw your findings in your science notebook.  Young children can color pictures of flowers and butterflies. Please preregister by e-mailing lawrencenaturecenter@gmail.com. Include your name, the number attending, children's ages, and a phone number to contact you in case of program changes.

Thursday

Altered Book Workshop, Lawrence Library, 2751 Route 1, Lawrence Township, 6:30 p.m.

Printmaker and book artist Kathy Metaxas will teach participants in this two-session workshop how to transform a discarded children’s board book into a unique artwork. Refreshments will be served. Class size is limited to 15 participants. Registration required.
