Troop 28 Has a Blast at Annual Col. Hand March

Local boy scouts took part in historical reenactment, marching from the Lawrence Township Municipal Building to the Old Barracks in Trenton.

To get a taste of their hometown’s rich history, Boy Scouts Troop 28, Lawrence Township, Central Jersey Council, participated Jan. 2 in the , taking the six-mile walk with Col. Hand as portrayed by Bill Agress, from the Lawrence Township Municipal Building to the Old Barracks in Trenton.

The scouts joined the mayor and other dignitaries to recreate the historical events that took place on Jan. 2, 1777 when Col. Edward Hand and his 1st Pennsylvania Riflemen provided the successful delaying tactics that held off the British troops preceding the Second Battle of Trenton.

Troop 28 is open to boys who have completed fifth grade, and meets Friday nights from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Troop Hut at . Boys do not need to have prior Cub Scouting experience in order to join.
