The Marlboro School District spent $13,140 per student last year.

According to the NJ Department of Education taxpayer's guide, Marlboro Township spent $13,140 per student this year in its 2012-13 budget.

The guide breaks down the amount by category, including classroom instruction, supplies, benefits and salaries.

The Marlboro K-8 district spent $8,248 per student for classroom instruction, and $1,838 per student for support services.

Support services includes areas which supplement daily classroom instruction, including "attendance, social work, health and guidance services, educational media/school library services and the child study team," according to the NJ Department of Education.

The district spent $7,821 per student on salaries and benefits for teachers, staff and administration, an almost $1,000 increase from the prior budget.

Administrative costs totaled $1,390 per student, and legal services totaled $20 per student. Supplies and classroom textbooks totaled $91 per student.

The Marlboro Township Board of Education approved an $88 million budget for the 2013-14 school year, which will raised taxes by 2.8 cents per $100,000.
