Hornik Begins Litter Removal Program in Marlboro
Public Works has been instructed to begin a litter removal program during the month of April.

Marlboro Township is extending Earth Day to the entire month of April, with an extensive litter removal program.
“In the wake of the massive amount of debris left by the winter storms, it appears that someindividuals have illegally disposed substantial amounts of trash along the roadways in ourTown," said Mayor Jon Hornik in a news release.
Hornik has directed the Marlboro Public Works Department to focus in the most littered areas, as reported by residents.

Marlboro Township receieved $70,115 from a Clean Communities grant in 2012, which will cover the cost of the program. The township has participated in the program since 1986.
Council President Frank LaRocca said, "The Council believes that it is important to encourage residents to dispose oftheir bulk items in a legal and safe manner."

The township recycling center is open for bulk items from Marlboro residents. A list of acceptable items is online.
Township Beautification Day is on May 11, at which residents will clean the township as well as plant flowers and trees. Local community groups will adopt sections of Marlboro and pledge to keep it free of litter for a year.
