Marlboro and Colts Neck Fall Short of State College Readiness Target

Both high schools reached 60 percent of the state target.

Both Marlboro and Colts Neck High Schools fell short of the state target for college readiness, according to the NJ Department of Education School Report Card.

College readiness is graded by the degree students are taking steps toward higher education, including participation in the SAT, PSAT or ACT and AP classes in math, science, language and social studies.

Ten percent of Marlboro's demographic is made up of students with disabilities, while Colts Neck has 11 percent.

In both Colts Neck and Marlboro, the grade fell short in participation of the PSAT and students taking at least one AP class of accepted subject matters.

Both high schools met state targets in academic achievement and graduation rates.

Marlboro High School outranked 83 percent of its peer group and 90 percent of the state in academic achievement.

The peer group is made up of schools determined to have a similar demographic, including in special education.

The school outperformed 49 percent of its peer group and 77 percent of the state in graduation and post-secondary rankings, which measures the rate at which students graduate and the rate at which students drop out.

Marlboro's drop-out rate is .4 percent.

Colts Neck High School outranked 81 percent of its peer group and 78 percent of the state in academic achievement.

In graduate and post-secondary rankings, Colts Neck outperformed 28 percent of its peer group and 57 percent of the state. Colts Neck's drop out rate is .9 percent.
