"As best as can be determined at this time, the funds needed for this plan are included in the 2013-14 budget," Lilonsky said in March. "If additional funds are needed, the board will discuss the couse of action to be taken at the time."

Whether or not officers will remain in the district was not disclosed. According to Mayor Jon Hornik, further security details in the district will not be disclosed to members of the media.

Hornik said the Township Council did approve the ability to hire 12 new special officers for the program prior to the original cops-in-schools plan expiring, but no officers have been hired.

Marlboro residents will see a 2.8 cent increase in school taxes this year. The $88 million budget increases taxes by less than one percent, supported by a $62.6 million tax levy, according to budget projections. Tax rates have the potential to raise to 2.8 cents per $100,000.
