Marlboro Man Charged with Tax Evasion in Food Distribution Company

John Annetta, 61, of Marlboro pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion.

The owner of a wholesale food distributer in New Jersey is facing charges of tax evasion for failing to report full income since 2006.

John Annetta, 61 of Marlboro pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion regarding his Cartaret based distributor White Rose Food, while a senior vice-president.

According to a new release on the White Rose website, Annetta was promoted in 2001 to senior vice-president of the frozen division.

A news release from the U.S. District Attorney indicates Annetta "received $1,648,085 from two people met in the course of his employment," money which he failed to report.

According to records from the U.S. District Attorney, Annetta failed to report full income and collected wrongful tax refunds totaling more than $160,000.

The records indicate Annetta's failure to report full income in combination with inflated tax refunds totaled a $536,530 federal loss. 

According to Annetta's plea agreement, which included waiving his right to an indictment trial, the Marlboro man faces the potential penalty of five years in prison and a fine of $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 4.
