A Monmouth County jury has indicted Jose Lopez, 33 of Sayreville for the alleged attempted theft of a parked minivan in Marlboro. Lopez allegedly broke into the minivan on Sept. 26, parked in the Union Hill Road commuter lot, damaging the steering column and ignition. The break-in caused $500 worth of damage to the car. A warrant was issued for Lopez's arrest in January, due to outstanding charges and the fear that Lopez was a flight risk, according to county records. Lopez is charged with one count of burglary and one count of the attempted theft of movable property.
