Morris Twp. Police Seeks to Fill Open Position

The deadline to file is July 21. Pay starts at $51,185 and can go up to $103,101 depending on time with the department and education level.

Looking to keep the peace and justice in town? The Morris Township Police Department has openings and is accepting resumes, according to Chief John McGuinness.

The deadline to file is July 21. The selection process may take up to 60 days. There will be written tests, oral interviews, physical fitness assessment, formal application, background investigation and more.  

Pay starts at $51,185 for a patrolman and increases with months of service and is higher for those with an associates or bachelors degrees. The highest pay is $103,101 for a patrolman with a bachelors degree with more than 120 months of service with the department.

Applicants at the time of appointment must have a valid New Jersey Police Training Commission certification from an accredited police academy, a valid New Jersey Drivers License and meet all qualifications of N.J.S.A. 40A:14-118 et. seq.

Education requirements: 

  • Shall possess a minimum of 60 credits from an accredited college or university. 
  • In lieu of the minimum of 60 college credit requirement, an applicant: shall have completed four years of active military service with an honorable discharge and be a high school graduate or equivalent.
