Murphy Order Will Have No Impact On Morris Schools

Fall plans were in place prior to Wednesday's announcement

MORRISTOWN, NJ—Governor Murphy's announcement on Wednesday that schools can open this fall with fully remote instruction will impact some districts more than others, but it won't have an effect on Morris schools.

"Our plans to reopening schools for in-person instruction have not changed in light of yesterday's press conference," said Morris School District spokeswoman Jennifer van Frank. "Schools will reopen on September 8 according to a modified schedule, and we will also offer an all-virtual pathway."

The Morris School District's reopening plan involves 5 days of 4-hour instruction for elementary students and a 50/50 hybrid model for middle and high school students.

The district was already offering all-digital instruction, joining several other school systems, including Elizabeth, who defied the governor's previous order that some form of in-person learning was required.
