Fish and Weather Smile on Special Kids Fishing Day

The Ocean City Marlin and Tuna Club and the Ocean City Yacht Club sponsor the annual event for families with special-needs children.

The Ocean City Marlin and Tuna Club and the Ocean City Yacht Club hosted their annual Special Kids Fishing Day on Sunday (June 3) under beautiful blue skies.

Children from the Variety Club, Big Brothers and Sisters and the Challenge League of Ft. Washington, PA, came to Ocean City for a day of fishing and fun.

More than 30 private boat owners — as well the Duke of Fluke and Family Fisherman party boats — volunteered their time to take families with special-needs children out for four hours of back bay fishing.

Yesterday’s event was a huge success with record attendance, participation from volunteers, supporters and, yes, some cooperation from the fish and weather.

After the fishing, the families enjoyed a sponsored lunch event, and the kids got to check out some local police cars, ambulances and fire trucks.
