Ocean City Police Chase 5K Run Set for Saturday

The run and a 2-mile walk benefit the PBA's community projects.

The Ocean City Policemen's Benevolent Association Local 61's annual Police Chase 5-kilometer run and 2-mile walk takes place on Saturday, June 9.

The event starts on the Boardwalk at and finishes on the track at Carey Stadium, where race-day registration takes place.

The events start at 8 a.m., the courses for both races run primarily on the Ocean City Boardwalk. To enter:

Registration fee is $25, and all proceeds benefit the PBA and its Ocean City High School scholarships, Christmas Toy Drive, free bike helmets and other community projects.

An awards ceremony and kids' races on the track follow the 5k run and two-mile walk.

Moe Kelly from the Sneaker Shop said the race is excited to have the group Students Run Philly Style joining the race again and bringing more students from more schools — including Northeast High School, Philadelphia High School for Girls, Germantown High School and George Washington High School.

South Jersey's Girls on the Go (GOTG) also will bring about 50 runners. And  will join the event for some fun and a great 5K.

Race packets can be picked up at the Sneaker Shop (846 Asbury Avenue) in advance of the race.
