Ocean City Restaurant Week Starts Saturday

The weeklong promotion includes 2-for-1 deals at participating restaurants.

Ocean City restaurants spent the winter in the spotlight as residents debated the merits of a , and they will return to center stage June 9 to 15 during Ocean City Restaurant Week.

This time, the attention will be about food and not drink.

In its fourth year, the weeklong promotion is becoming an important part of Ocean City's special events calendar. During Restaurant Week, participating restaurants offer two-for-one deals from special menus. The week begins on Saturday and and continues through Friday, June 15.

About 20 restaurants are currently listing specials on the website, and more will continue to be added all week, according to Andrew Yoa, restaurant owner and president of the 54-member Ocean City Restaurant Association that organizes the event.

The specials range from two four-course meals from a special menu at Yoa's (for $29.99) to two "Hole in One" cold ice cream and hot doughnut concoctions for the price of one at the .

Restaurant Week offers diners a chance to sample new Ocean City restaurants such as and or revisit established eateries like or .

"It's a good opportunity to get some new people in the door," Yoa said of Restaurant Week.

The special menus at each participating restaurant will be printed on a template that lists other restaurants diners can try during Restaurant Week.

The promotion falls a week earlier than it did last year and a week before the start of summer break for most public schools — the first week of "The Big 11," the 11 weeks until Labor Day that make up the heart of the season for most seasonal businesses.
