$13K In Drugs, Paraphernalia Found Near Bergen Middle School: Police

A man was linked to the seized contraband and arrested with multiple related offenses, police said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Police found $13,000 worth of illegal contraband within 1,000 feet of a local middle school, according to authorities.

Everett Cline, 46, of Hackensack, was linked to the seized contraband, and arrested following the search of his apartment on Friday, police Capt. Michael Antista said.

A search of Cline's Union Street apartment, located near Hackensack Middle School, yielded approximately 1,330 wax folds of suspected heroin; about 440 vials of suspected crack cocaine; more than an ounce of suspected methamphetamine; more than six ounces of suspected marijuana; and about 25 unknown type pills, packaging and scales, Antista said.

Police believe the street value is more than $13,000, the captain said.

Cline was arrested on scene, and charged with possession with intent to distribute offenses, including five counts related to an intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school. He was processed and will be taken to the Bergen County Jail, police said.

"The location of this drug distribution location situated in such close proximity to one of our schools further heightened our public safety concerns," Police Director Ray Guidetti said in a release.

"To that end," he added, "I continue to be impressed with the efforts of our detectives who expend considerable amount of time and effort investigating such crimes before their very impact can reach our children."
