2 Kilos Of Fentanyl, 100 Grams Of Cocaine Seized In Bergen Co.: Police
A man was caught trafficking fentanyl and cocaine through Bergen County, and sold the illegal drugs to an undercover agent, police said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A man was caught driving bulk amounts of fentanyl and cocaine through Bergen County, just a short while after he had distributed the illicit drugs to an undercover agent, according to authorities.
Jose Restrepo-Velez, 49, of Roselle Park, was arrested in connection with two kilograms of fentanyl and about 100 hundred grams of cocaine found in his vehicle on March 22 in Hackensack. Earlier in the month, Restrepo-Velez had allegedly sold 100 grams of fentanyl and 50 grams of cocaine to an undercover detective, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
A search of Restrepo-Velez's home also yielded more cocaine, drug paraphernalia and ledgers, an affidavit said.

The Union County man was charged with distribution of fentanyl and cocaine, and remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending an initial court appearance, Musella said.
Just last week, the prosecutor's office "sounded the alarm" about fentanyl flowing into Bergen County communities. In 2022, more than 32 kilograms of fentanyl were seized across the county, Patch reported.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, one kilogram of fentanyl has the potential to kill 500,000 people.
