Fundraiser for DPW Brother Sold Out

The Sean Cullen benefit pasta dinner, scheduled for Saturday, has already run out of available tickets.

Earlier this week organizers of the Sean Cullen Benefit Pasta Dinner announced that tickets to the fundraising event have sold out. Cullen, 26, is currently battling Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma (a cancer originating from white blood cells) and the fundraising dinner and tricky tray was organized by his fellow "brothers" from the Paramus DPW.

"The fundraiser is completely sold out of tickets," Gary DeSilva, a DPW employee and one of three organizers for the event said. Residents can continue to donate through."

The pasta dinner is scheduled for Saturday at the Paramus Elks and includes a Tricky Tray which various local businesses donated items to be auctioned off and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds from ticket sales and the auction will be used toward Cullen's medical expenses and treatment at Sloan Kettering.

"Sean is currently undergoing treatment and is scheduled to have a scan on Oct. 24 to determine the next step in his treatment," organizer Karl Vander Sluis said.

Aside from being a Paramus DPW employee, the Saddle Brook resident works in security at the Garden State Plaza mall and does landscaping work as well to support himself, wife Ruthe and their two boys Sean Junior, 2 years old, and Jack Jameson, 1 years old.

Friends and family have set up a support group on Facebook and an online donation page was set up by Kulhawy on gofundme.com and to date has raised $1,815. Online donations can be made here.

Donation checks should be made out to Sean Michael Cullen; for more information on where to send donations, contact Vander Sluis at 201-522-0492.
