2. Man in wheelchair charged with shoplifting $13,000 in perfume, hats, and lenses (nj1015.com) — Paramus police say two Bronx men used a wheelchair ruse to steal perfume and hats from Nordstrom at Paramus Park Mall, leading to their arrest and jail detention. Officers also linked one suspect to an earlier theft of prescription lenses from the mall’s LensCrafters, tying the pair to prior shoplifting incidents there.
   

3. Mall Pick-pocketer Arrested, Paramus Police Chief Announced (tapinto.net) — Paramus police arrested a Bloomfield man after finding a stolen wallet and credit card in a car at Westfield Garden State Plaza, tying him to a pickpocketing incident in Wayne. Officers from the Anti-Crime Unit spotted suspects selling items at the Paramus mall, coordinated with Wayne police, and say the stolen cards were used at a kiosk inside the plaza.
   

4. Gov-Elect Sherrill Makes Appointments for Departments of Military, Veterans Affairs Under New Structure (tapinto.net) — Paramus residents should know the state veterans home in town is part of a broader overhaul as Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill creates a standalone New Jersey Department of Veterans Affairs. Her appointee, Vincent Solomeno, previously boosted staffing, pay, and technology at the Paramus, Menlo Park, and Vineland veterans homes and will now oversee all state veterans facilities and services.
   

5. NJ Governor-elect celebrates the holidays with veterans (pix11.com) — Veterans at the New Jersey Veterans Home in Paramus welcomed Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill for a holiday party and candid conversations about their needs. Local residents hear veterans urging better care and quality of life, while appreciating the shared military service and festive visit from the state’s incoming leader.
