Heat Advisory Issued Monday for Bergen County

A heat advisory warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Monday as the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make the temperature feel like 95 degrees or more in Bergen County and other parts of North Jersey. 

The heat advisory is in effect from noon until 8 p.m. Monday, July 15. 

Temperatures are expected to remain in the high 90s on Tuesday, according to the weather service. 

Below is the forecast for Monday and Tuesday:

  • Monday - Isolated showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Heat index values as high as 100. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 70. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 96. North wind 5 to 7 mph.
  • Tuesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. North wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. 
The weather service advises those who work outdoors to schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded and air conditioned environments as per the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. It recommends strenuous activities be done in the early morning or evening and advises people to know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
