Hotel Guest Found Dead In Bergen Co., Police Investigating: Prosecutor

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 22-year-old woman was found dead in a hotel guest room, according to authorities.

The hotel patron, identified as Karol Mejia, was found dead on Feb. 28 in a room at Super 8 hotel in Carlstadt, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Her death does not appear to involve foul play, a preliminary investigation indicated. However, the investigation is ongoing, Musella said.

Officers entered the West New York woman's room using a master key card, and found her at about 5:10 a.m. at the Washington Avenue hotel. Mejia's name was withheld until Friday, pending notification to next of kin, the prosecutor's office said.

No additional information is available at this time, the prosecutor said.
