Municipal Courtroom to Undergo Facelift
The courtroom will get much-needed new seating, new lighting and carpeting as part of this longtime coming capital improvement project.

The Paramus municipal building courtroom is about to get a long awaited facelift.
Over the next few months, new seats, carpeting and lighting will be installed along with some other new fixtures such as new ceiling fans and tiling, says DPW Superintendent Guy Picone.
The room is used by the Paramus court and also for council meetings and Zoning board and Planning Board meeting which convene a few times a month.

As of Feb. 1 the Maywood municipal court will be using the Paramus court room, a shared service between the two municipalities.
Painting will begin this Thursday, says Picone. Picone said the painting is being done using labor from the Bergen County work release program to save on costs.

Over the next month electrical work will be done to install new lighting and ceiling fans, he explained. The borough is currently in the process of ordering the new seats. Officials have said the current seats have been showing wear and tear for some time and replacing them is long overdue.
The goal is to get the upgrades done without causing too much disruption to the court schedule. It’s hoped to have everything done by Memorial Day, says Picone.
