PARAMUS, NJ – A 28-year-old Newark man faces charges after police say he was found with a stolen car early Wednesday morning and tried to flee from authorities.
Hysheem A. Walker was arrested after leading Paramus police officers down Route 17, onto the Garden State Parkway and then on to Route 21 before the stolen BMW he was in crashed, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said.
Around 2:35 a.m., Paramus police received an alert from Upper Saddle River police that officers were trying to stop a 2017 BMW 7 series on Route 17 that was reported stolen Monday in Deal, the chief said. A short time later, Officer Nicholas Tanelli spotted the car, which was occupied by three men, and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the chief said.
