One Injured in Vehicle, Tour Bus Collision on Rt. 17

Jaws of Life used to free injured driver of Honda Civic.

An Atlantic Express tour bus collided with a Honda Civic on Route 17 North Tuesday morning tying up traffic at the peak of rush hour.

Paramus Rescue had to use a hydraulic rescue tool to free the man driving a Honda Civic which was pushed into the divider when it collided with the bus, according to Paramus Police Capt. Robert Guidetti.

The man was treated for a leg injury, said Guidetti. There were no other injuries reported.

The captain said the accident occurred just around 8 a.m. He said the Civic stopped suddenly when it lost power and was then struck by the tour bus.

Police said no tickets were issued in relation to the accident but the driver of the vehicle was issued a summons for failure to inspect his vehicle.
