Panico Will Stay on as Paramus High School Principal

Board of Education reappoints Panico as interim principal and puts off search for a permanent principal until next year.

Anthony Panico, interim Paramus High School principal, will continue on for one more school year, the district announced Tuesday.

The Paramus Board of Education renewed Panico's appointment Monday night putting off its search for a permanent high school principal another year.

The board brought Panico on last August to take the helm of the high school for a one-year period with the option of extending his temporary position an additional year.

"Panico has had a very successful year as principal, and  wilì continue to move Paramus High School in the right direction for the future," said Superintendent Ken Rota in a statement Tuesday.

Panico, who has more than 40 years of experience in education, came out of retirement to take on the temporary position last year.

He replaced former principal Kurt Karcich who left the Paramus district last year to take on a position in Point Pleasant.

Panico previously served as principal of River Dell High School and later was principal of Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan. He served 20 years in each position.

The longtime educator had previously told Patch he was glad to have found Paramus High School and was happy to be back behind the desk serving as principal again.
