Paramus Athletes, Musicians Earn Accreditation

Winter sports athletes and music students were given certificates for their recent achievements by the Paramus Board of Education.

Nearly two dozen students were honored by the Paramus Board of Education Monday night for athletic and musical achievements.

The board handed out certificates to a number of students who made big achievements in winter sports this season.

Girls basketball star Brittany Stone and Boys basketball star John Morella were both honored for achieving 1,000 career points and for both making 1st division, All league, Big North Freedom Division.

Bowling team members Brittany Hovan, Haley Hassan and Tukuya Tokunaga made 1st team, All League Big North Freedom Division. Hovan was also made 1st Team All County.

Wrestling team member Joe Trovato made 1st Team, All League Big North Freedom Division and 1st Team All County. Also Alex Sebahie, Justin Cochran, Laith Abwini, Nick Spinso, Brandon Lopresti, Nick Bucci and Matt Tozzi made 1st Team, All League, Big North Freedom Division.

Winter track's Alex Gulbenkian made 1st Team, All League in shot put, Big North Freedom Division.

Swim team members Eric Kim made 1st Team All County for individual medley and Harold Choo made 1st Team All County for the breaststroke.

Music students from the two middle school and high school were named to the All North Jersey Junior Regiona Orchestra.

West Brook Middle School students Chris Jin, for violion and Jay Lee for cello; East Brook Middle School students Lauren Chun for violin, Brian Lee, for violin and Scott Yi for violin; Paramus High School student Erin Hahn for viola.

Paulie Cho was named to NJSMA All North Jersey Regional 1 Intermediate Band.

One academic honor went to Ye Won Cho who has advanced as a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program for 2013.
