Paramus Board of Health Offers Vaccinations for Seniors

Summer is great but the relief of the cool fall air and the beauty of the change of seasons has may folks excited for autumn. Unfortunately, the cool air can come with complications.

Flu season comes and runs amok on many Americans each year. It may seem a bit early to worry about flu season but it may not be.

“Flu activity most commonly peaks in the U.S. in January or February. However, seasonal flu activity can begin as early as October and continue to occur to as late as May,” according to cdc.gov.

The Paramus Board of Health has announced that it will offer seasonal influenza and pneumococcal vaccinations to Senior Citizens 65 and over, and adults suffering from chronic illnesses, according to Judith Migliaccio, Borough Health Officer.

Vaccinations will be given at Paramus Borough Hall on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 5. This program will not serve clients who are HMO members.

All participants must be 65 or over and must show proof of age and Paramus residency.

Residents must register for the program by calling 201-649-0755. Persons wishing to receive flu vaccination only, should arrive at Borough Hall from 8-9:30 a.m. on Oct. 5. Persons wishing to receive both flu and pneumococcal vaccination should arrive at Borough hall at 9:30 a.m. sharp. The Paramus Board of Health urges all senior citizens to take advantage of these immunizations.
