Paramus High Shows Slight Improvement on State Tests, Report Shows
State figures show more high school students are proficient in language arts, math and biology.

Paramus High School students showed some improvement across the board last year on the state HSPA test as per the recently released School Report Card figures issued by the state.
Student scores were stronger in the language arts area as overall schoolwide performance was at 98 percent in language arts as opposed to 91 percent for math.
The chart below shows that Paramus High students ranked more than 80 percent above their peer group and statewide.

In a breakdown per subject matter, a larger percentage of students were considered proficient in language arts than in math. Compared with the previous year students improved in both subject matters. In language arts 71 percent of students were proficient, a slight improvement over the previous year's 67 percent. In math, 58 percent were proficient last year and 55 percent the previous year.
The largest improvement is seen on the Biology portion of the test where 61 percent of students were considered proficient, a significant jump over 49 percent the previous year.
