Paramus Library Hosts Photographry Exhibit by Chip Renner
Exhibit can be viewed at the library during regular hours until the end of February
Local photographer Chip Renner first picked up a camera back in 1975 and has never looked back since.
Over the years he’s captured some remarkable images some of which have won him awards and been published in books. Recently retired after 39 years working for the phone company, the Rochelle Park resident is now using some of his spare time to focus more on his photography.
He is currently exhibiting his works at the Paramus Public Library until the end of February.

His most recent works on display are examples of some of the techniques he uses such as the HDR (high dynamic resonance) photography a digital method which combines three images taken in different exposure levels into one finished image with the help of a computer program.
One of the examples of this type of method is a photo of the George Washington Bridge which is featured in the Paramus exhibit. Most images of the historic bridge are taken south of the bridge when on the New Jersey side but Renner’s image looks at the bridge from the north side which he points out is not done often enough. He says knows just the right spot to get to on the cliffs to capture this view.

Some may recognize other historic buildings in his show such as the old stone church in Upper Saddle River which he photographed using a special infrared camera.
Renner says when that opportunity to get that shot is there you just have to take it or else that chance may never come back again. He referred to the many things he’s photographed over the years down at the Jersey Shore that sadly may not even be there anymore.
“You have to get that photo while you can before that opportunity is gone,” says Renner.
Over the years Renner has exhibited his works in area art shows such as the county Art in the Park show at Van Saun Park. He says he was honored to have some of his images of the old Hackensack water company building in Oradell featured in a book by author Clifford Zink.
