Proposed Paramus Road Mosque Hearing Postponed
Hearing was to continue on Jan. 10 but will now be heard at a later date.

The Muslim Cultural Center proposal to occupy a not yet constructed, but previously approved, building on Paramus Road as a mosque and cultural center will not be heard during the Jan. 10 Zoning Board meeting and will be rescheduled for a later date.
The Zoning Board will conduct its 2013 reorganization meeting when it convenes this Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Once rescheduled the hearing will pick up where it left off in November when Zoning Board members heard testimony from the center's engineer, architect and traffic engineer on the building's design, use and parking layout.

Parking has been the largest concern as 61 spaces are proposed as opposed to 69 which would be required by borough code.
The location had been approved by the Zoning Board for the construction of an office building back in 2008 but the building has yet to be constructed. The Muslim Cultural Center seeks a use variance in order to occupy the building once constructed as a mosque and cultural center serving an existing congregation of about 25 to 30 families.

The building size has not changed since the original plans were approved in 2008 with the exception of a reduction of the ground floor level by 850 square feet to create 5 parking spaces underneath the building.
Patch will udpate when a new date is scheduled for the continued hearing.
