PSE&G Utility Pole Installations Slow Traffic in Spots

Traffic on Ridgewood Avenue between Rt. 17 and Paramus Road. PSE&G has a lane closed to make room for the installation of a new utility pole. Around 120 poles are expected to be erected around town over the next few months. 

The power company said that they were not expecting any traffic delays as a result of the work. There have been no major traffic jams as a result reported to us, but there have been a number of small obstacles caused by the work. 

“With the addition of these new lines, PSE&G is building the area’s electric infrastructure for the next 50 years and beyond,” said Isabel Goncalves-Rooney, PSE&G’s project director. “These upgrades are part of our ongoing commitment to ensure safe, reliable electric service for our customers.”

Are you excited to see the improvements being made? Ridgewood residents had a number of issues with the installation of the larger poles. Would you rather them stay off the roads and keep their power grid as is? Or are you glad to see them working, despite the minor delays, because an upgraded power grid will be the result?
