State Gives Paramus $150K Towards Midland Ave. Resurfacing

Department of Transportation awarded grants to 48 municipalities in Bergen County.

Paramus will receive $150,000 from the state towards the resurfacing of a portion of Midland Avenue, the Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.

According to Peter Ten Kate of Boswell Engineering, the borough's engineer, the funding will go towards the resurfacing of part of "Midland Avenue from Route 17 to approximately Abbott Road, depending upon how far the grant money will stretch."

The borough had applied for $160,000, he said.

Paramus is one of 48 municipalities in Bergen to receive funding towards projects realting to advancing streets, safety and quality-of-life improvements with the intention of lessening the burden on taxpayers, according to the release.
