According to the campaign, Wilbur and his family will face additional financial difficulties as he continues his treatment.
"While they need your thoughts and prayers, we decided to create this GoFundMe page and share it with friends, fellow coaches, former players, colleagues, etc.. to provide some much-needed financial support," read the GoFundMe page that was set up for him and his family.

Many past students and former athletes wrote fond memories of the times they had with Wilbur as a coach on the fundraiser page.
"Much love and respect to a man who showed me nothing but the same during my high school years as both my football and track coach. Always walked with a limp, always talked with a hand gesture like he was a cowboy shooting in a western (with a two-fingered barrel), and I’ll never forget his inspirational words of wisdom," posted Steven Henke.
As of Tuesday afternoon, $12,865 has been raised for the Wilbur family. Here is the link to the official GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com.
