Academic performance, community service, extracurricular activities and financial need are among the award criteria. The scholarship committee reviews and approves applications in an unbiased manner, with no knowledge of a student's identity.
All 16 selected students will be honored at an official ceremony planned for May 15 at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy, which is located at 500 W Hanover Avenue in Morristown.
The event will run from 7 to 9 p.m. and advanced registration is required. To register for the ceremony, click here.
Refreshments will be served following the ceremony, officials said.
The 200 Club of Morris County was founded in 1971 by a group of concerned business and political leaders. Its formation arose directly from involvement with the Essex County Club, which was founded in 1967 as New Jersey's first 200 Club.
The Club was founded in 1971 by 19 people and had grown to 40 by the end of that year. Each member paid $200 in annual dues, hence the "200" designation. The Club has grown to nearly 900 members over the years.
