New Police Chief Set To Take Over In Point Pleasant
Chief Adam Picca is retiring and will be succeeded by Capt. Christopher Leonhardt, the borough said.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — The Point Pleasant Borough Council and Mayor Robert Sabosik approved the promotions of two officers in preparation for the retirement of Police Chief Adam Picca.
The promotions, of Capt. Christopher Leonhardt to chief and Lt. Loren MacIver to captain, take effect April 1, when Picca retires. They were approved at the Feb. 24 Borough Council meeting.
Leonhardt was promoted to captain in October 2022 when Picca was promoted to chief. He started his career as a Class II Special Officer in Manasquan in August 1999 and spent about 18 months as a police officer in Allenhurst before joining the Point Pleasant Police Department in June 2002, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He served as an instructor at the Ocean County Police Academy and taught law enforcement test prep for ESPOS Test Prep, according to his profile.
He graduated from Ocean County College in 1999 with an associates degree in criminal justice and from Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2003. Leonhardt graduated from the New Jersey Chiefs of Police Command and Leadership Academy in June 2024.

MacIver has been the watch commander on the evening shift. He was promoted to lieutenant in late October 2022. He was promoted to sergeant in 2020 and has 25 years in law enforcement, according to public records.
Picca was promoted to chief in October 2022, where Sabosik praised him for dedicating his life to service. He is a veteran member of the Point Pleasant Police Department and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran.
"Thank you to Chief Picca on completing an outstanding career in law enforcement and serving our community," an announcement on the borough's Facebook page said.
