Pair Charged In Home Invasion Burglary In Point Pleasant, Prosecutor Says

The man and woman from California kicked in the door of the home and the man fired a gunshot before they left, authorities said.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Two California residents have been arrested after they kicked in the door of a Point Pleasant home, stole the resident's belongings and fired a gunshot before taking off, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said Friday.

Jaheim Wilson, 23, and Oleyah J. Brown, 21, both of Stockton, California, both are charged with home invasion burglary in the incident that happened Thursday, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Wilson additionally is charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, prosecutors said.

Point Pleasant police were called to a Barton Avenue home at 1:38 a.m. Thursday, according to court documents. The resident told police a man and woman had kicked in the door and burglarized the home, taking items belonging to the resident, before the man fired a single gunshot, authorities said.

The man and woman then ran off, authorities said.

Authorities were able to identify Wilson and Brown as the pair who had burglarized the home, the prosecutor's office said, and they were found in Toms River about 11 p.m. Thursday and arrested.

Both are being held in the Ocean County Jail pending detention hearings.
