Confirmed: Brick Lane Curry House to Replace Radicchio's

As we reported last month, with Radicchio's closing comes a new curry house from the same owner

There's a change coming to Ridgewood and it promises to be hot. Start lining up, curry fans.

As we reported last month, Brick Lane Curry House is coming to the village to replace the shuttered Italian landmark, according to the property owners' website.

Owned by Satinder Sharma and Ajit Singh Bains, Brick Lane Curry House opened in Manhattan's Lower East Side in 2002 before another Indian restaurant in midtown Manhattan sprouted up a few years later.

The Ridgewood opening, expected this fall, comes on the heels of Red Brick's New Jersey invasion, which started in Montclair this summer.

Patch's "Hot From the Kettle" that the new Montclair curry king has some devastating dishes. "Heavier on kebabs and robust curries and lighter on tandooris and khurmas," according to the website, Kettle got a kick out of the Chicken Tikka Masala and the lamb sizzler.

Those who want the oh-my-bad-word-this-is-excruciatingly hot experience, Kettle reported, will absolutely get one. The 16-ounce bowl of Phaal chicken curry is so hot it falls just below the thresh-hold of law enforcement pepper spray, Kettle said.

Radicchio, which the current owners took over in 2009 and closed after several slow months in 2011, had been known as one of Ridgewood's most recognizable Italian restaurants for nearly two decades. Sharma previously told Patch they were in it for the long haul but times change, it seems.

Currently, Ridgewood has an Indian restaurant just over the downtown subcontinent on Oak Street in the form of , as well as on East Ridgewood Avenue.

Red Brick Curry House has not responded to requests for comment by Ridgewood Patch.

Nevertheless, if you want to take a sneak peak on what you're in store for, and see how the holy-hot phaal chicken curry is made on Kettle's website, Hot From the Kettle.
