Council "H-Zone" Ordinance Hearings to be Held at RHS Campus Center, Televised

Meetings to start in September

The Ridgewood Village Council held off on holding any substantive meetings on the controversial , according to a release posted on the village website Monday.

The council previously told residents at a May meeting when it comes to deciding the most divisive issue in town.

Special public meetings will be held on September 13, September 19, October 13, October 24, November 3, November 22, and November 29, 2011. All meetings will be held at the RHS Campus Center, beginning at 7:00 p.m. and are on a first come, first serve basis. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m.

The council had tossed around the idea of having a meeting or two in summer and then "hit the ground running" in fall, but elected to start in the fall and hopes to avoid lingering fears of the last go-around at the planning board, which and hundreds of furious residents. Moreover, with residents fleeing for beach houses, many felt it was more appropriate to simply start in fall, with a full village in tow.

In addition to meetings at the RHS Campus Center, meetings can be seen broadcast on Cablevision Channel 77. While there will be a limited amount of viewers able to watch from the computer, the village will be doing live video streaming online as well.

Agenda minutes will be posted prior to meetings, the release states. The meetings will be held separately from council public meetings and work sessions.
