Disabled Car, False Alarm Cause Traffic Issues on East Ridgewood Avenue

Drivers react with fury to the rush hour inconvenience

A fury of car horns blared into the crisp Ridgewood sky for about a half hour in the late afternoon, a result of a disabled car on East Ridgewood Avenue and a false fire alarm at nearby .

The disabled vehicle, traveling west between Cottage Place and Walnut Street on East Ridgewood Avenue, "just died," said the driver, who worked at Verizon. A row of cars behind him leaned on their horns, cursing and raising the arms in frustration. The vehicle was eventually moved to the side in a parking spot and the noise died down.

Across the street, the fire department responded to a false alarm call at Tito's Burritos at about 4:15 p.m. Workers at the burrito shop and fire department personnel told Patch there was no fire and the alarm apparently just triggered.
