Ridge Teacher Named Ashby Award Winner

A first grade teacher at Ridge Elementary School was praised as a top-quality educator deserving of every accolade the district could give her.

For Donna Pedersen, the annual Ashby Award will have to suffice.

Pedersen, in her 27th year as a teacher, thanked the district and briefly spoke of how committed it is to quality education. She closed her remarks by saying how awesome Ridge Elementary School is, which was met with big applauds by school board members and colleagues in the audience.

First established in 1966, the annual award honors the teacher who best exemplifies service to the education community. The winner is nominated by staff members. RHS teacher Jane Blakely was last year's recipient.
