Thursday: Upgrade Parking with Modern Technology?

Landlord Ed Sullivan recommends exploring new payment systems like the ones in Montclair and Ft. Lee

1)  Local landlord Ed Sullivan told the council Wednesday night that he's heard no complaints over the new parking structure, but urged the council to consider having the 2009 Parking Committee report reexamined. The committee could even reconvene, he said. Why, you ask? Sullivan suggested incorporating new technology, as has been done in towns like Ft. Lee and Montclair, would allow Ridgewood to be 'proactive' and not 'reactive'. The system employed by Montclair and Ft. Lee allow people to pay by cell phone, eliminating the need for quarters.

2) The Ridgewood Village Council crossed off a number of items on its agenda Wednesday night, including the fast food ordinance, sidewalk cafe ordinance, and others.

3) The village calendar for 2012 will feature a lot of balls. The theme? Sports, a whole decade of them!

4) Former RHS lax star Sally Jentis' new college team, the Florida Gators, are ranked the preseason #2 girls lacrosse team in the country, according to LaxPower.com. Jentis was among the nation's most sought-after recruits this past season. Senior Kelci Smesko, Duke-bound, is one of the nation's best recruits for 2011-2012 and she'll look to lead Ridgewood to another state title.

5) The weather just won't get any better, will it? Another day of rain awaits us. Thursday is projected to get upwards of three-quarters of an inch on Thursday. Stay dry!
