What Would You Do About Flood-Prone Village Hall?

Pave paradise, turn the bottom floor into a parking lot?

The cost to a few short years after being rebuilt entirely following Floyd, which like Irene also left considerable damage in its wake.

Some in our comments have suggested abandoning the first floor of Village Hall entirely and moving some of the rooms like the Anne Zusy Youth Center and the Pat Mancuso Senior Center elsewhere.

Village officials have given no indication that will happen; rather, cleanup will occur over the next few months to the first floor and some of the meetings held at those common rooms will be relocated until construction work is done.

Given that the village has said it doesn't have money to do anything with Schedler, a name commonly brought up in comments, what suggestions do you as citizens have?

Flooding seems likely to continue, so the cleanup costs will also continue. Is it worth it? What alternatives, if any, are there?
