A single-car accident on Route 17 shut down two lanes of traffic around noon Monday and led to firemen rescuing a trapped woman, authorities said.
According to Ridgewood Fire Department Chief Jim Van Goor, one woman was driving northbound in the right lane when her vehicle flipped, trapping her in the car near the W. Saddle River Rd. ramp.
"The vehicle landed on its side near the trees," Van Goor said. "We needed to use the jaws of life."

Van Goor said authorities on scene were stumped as to what caused the accident, which resulted in what appeared to be serious injuries. The woman, who was conscious, Van Goor said, was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center.
No other vehicles or persons were involved in the accident. Two lanes were shut down as emergency responders descended onto the scene. The road has since fully reopened.
