Berry has been a Fanwood resident for 17 years and earned her bachelor’s degree in information technology, as well as a master’s in business administration. She is married with three children, one who is grown and two others currently in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood school system.
Berry has always been heavily involved in the school system, according to the Committee, such as through the PTA and numerous community committees and events. She is also a volunteer on the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Committee for Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation policing subcommittee.
Berry will be running for the Council seat currently held by Francine Glaser who is not running for re-election.
“I am very happy to have [Mitchell] back for another term,” Mayor Colleen Mahr, chair of the Democratic Committee, said. “She has demonstrated her commitment to Fanwood and its citizens over two decades. [Berry] will be a fantastic addition to our governing body. She is a very involved parent and engaged in issues that cut across our diverse community.”
Once nominating petitions are filed on April 4th, both Mitchell and Berry will appear on the June primary ballot.
