ICYMI: Scotch Plains, Fanwood Among Best Towns for Families in State

Fanwood was ranked among the top 125 towns for families in New Jersey.

Out of more than 500 municipalities listed, Scotch Plains was ranked 127th and Fanwood was ranked 122nd best towns for families in the state of New Jersey by New Jersey Family Magazine.

NJFamily.com is a magazine which claims to be “the essential source for NJ moms on everything about parenting in New Jersey.” Additionally, the website states New Jersey Family magazine provides fun things to do with your kids in New Jersey and is a valuable resource for parents with kids.

Scotch Plains and Fanwood were two of 20 Union County towns to make the list, according to the website.

The magazine’s methodology eliminated towns with populations less than 1,500 from eligibility. New Jersey Family looked at the entire state and then compiled the list by measuring each municipality against a number of factors, including school district quality, crime rates, affordability, commute times, percentage of families who live there, access to hospitals and general lifestyle factors.

The magazine then developed an algorithm based on the data to determine the ranking.
