21-Year-Old Stabbed To Death In Union Co., Investigation Underway

The victim has been identified as Yonatan Alexander Vasquez-Torres, 21, of Elizabeth, according to the Union County Prosecutor's Office.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — One person has died following a fatal stabbing over the weekend in Elizabeth, authorities announced Monday.

According to the Union County Prosecutor's Office, police in Elizabeth responded to the 300 block of Center Street shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday in response to a report of an injured man.

After arriving on scene, officers found Yonatan Alexander Vasquez-Torres, 21, of Elizabeth. They said he'd been fatally stabbed.

It was not immediately known what led up to the stabbing or if there are currently any persons of interest in the case.

The Union County Homicide Task Force is leading the investigation into the fatal stabbing. The Elizabeth Police Department and Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit is assisting the task force.
