New Fanwood Police Officer Sworn In; Spring Events Returning

The regular monthly meeting of the Fanwood Borough Council and Mayor on March 21, 2022, was highlighted by the swearing-in of the Borough’s newest police officer. Kyle Rajcevic of Colonia, a recent graduate of the Essex County Police Academy, received the honors from Mayor Colleen Mahr as the first order of business at the March Council meeting. Officer Rajcevic’s sister Kayla held the bible as his mom and dad, Donna and Peter, looked on. He starts immediately with field training.

The Council also welcomed a new administrative assistant for the Police Department, Adrianne Relford. She also starts immediately. Ms. Relford replaces Dianne Howarth who retired recently.
Council President Anthony Carter read a proclamation supporting the people of Ukraine. “Russia should be held responsible for the loss of human life, the loss of property and the displacement of thousands of Ukrainians resulting from this truly reprehensible act,” he said.
Councilwoman Francine Glaser presented a proclamation for Women’s History Month, applauding Mayor Colleen Mahr for her role as a strong female leader. Councilwoman Kathy Mitchell and Senior Coordinator Kathleen Holmes announced a resumption of the Fanwood Senior Club meetings on Monday, March 28th with a presentation on cyber security by Police Director Michael Bramhall.
There were announcements of several public events returning this spring after a two-year absence due to the pandemic. The Easter Egg hunt returns to Forest Road Park on Saturday, April 9, 10:00 AM. The Earth Day Community Clean up returns on Saturday, April 23rd, beginning at 8:30 AM at the Fanwood train station. The Memorial Day Parade will return on Monday, May 23rd. A live concert of patriotic music and tribute to local heroes takes place the Sunday before in Scotch Plains on the green outside the municipal hall. And Ladies’ Night, an evening of shopping and fun in Fanwood’s downtown, will return sometime in June.
